Our Story

Tyler & Steph the first week they met--Aug, 2006

Tyler and Stephanie met in August 2006 at The University of Iowa journalism workshop for high schoolers. Tyler was sent to the week-long program by his high school newspaper instructor, and Stephanie attended based on her life-long love of writing. Tyler and Stephanie initially met at the soda machine in the building. Stephanie realized she didn't have quite enough cash on her, so she turned around to ask the cute guy in line if he had any spare change. (Little did he know he was loaning 40 cents to his future-wife!) Throughout the program, Tyler and Stephanie were able to talk and get to know one another, and by the end of the week, they'd exchanged phone numbers and both knew they'd want to see each other again.

After several weeks passed by, Tyler and Stephanie set up their first date, which was the start of their first year of long-distance dating. During their first year as a dating couple, Tyler and Stephanie had so much fun spending time on the weekends, getting to know each other's families, and attending Tyler's Senior Prom and High School Graduation. After a wonderful summer together, Tyler started college that fall at The University of Iowa as an Engineering student, while Stephanie began her junior year of high school.

Over the next two years Stephanie finished high school and Tyler continued college. They loved spending their weekends together-- Tyler made it to every one of Stephanie's dance team performances, homecomings and proms, and Stephanie also loved getting to know Tyler's college friends in Iowa City.

In 2009, Stephanie graduated High School, and decided to attend The University of Iowa to study Journalism. Tyler and Stephanie were thrilled to finally attend the same school and see each other on a daily basis. As students at the University, Tyler and Stephanie love cheering on the Hawks at football games, grabbing coffee together in between classes, and getting involved in 24:7--a student ministry on campus.

Tyler proposed to Stephanie in Feburary 2011, and they're both thrilled for their upcoming wedding. This May, Tyler graduated UI with a degree in Industrial Engineering, and started his full-time job as a Quality Engineer at Centro Inc. in North Liberty, IA. Stephanie will continue to pursue a degree in Journalism & Mass Communication, and keeps busy with her involvement in campus organizations, freelance writing for publications, and planning the final details of the wedding.

The couple feels so blessed to have the support of their wonderful family and friends, and cannot wait to start their new life together!
